Mt Liberty Resident Dies
CHESTERHILL - Mrs. Lydia Jane Jarvis, 72, lifelong resident of the Mount Liberty community in western Washington County, died at 8:15 p.m. Monday at her home on Cutler Route 1. She had become ill Saturday.
Mrs. Jarvis was the widow of John Jarvis, who died July 15, 1952. She was a member of the Mount Liberty Church.
Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Emma Dorr of Athens Route 3, Mrs. Connie McCray of Athens, Mrs. Anna Allen of Columbus, Mrs. Catherine Ortman of Cutler, Mrs. Mary Blasdel of Greenville, Ind. and Mrs Jane Holcomb of Jackson.
She also leaves eight sons, Kyle of New Philadelphia, Francis of Athens, Horace, Glenn, Michael and Clifford, all of Columbus and Paul and Charles of Cutler; 51 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Ther also survive two sisters, Mrs. Anna Ervin of New Lexington, and Mrs. Catherine Jones of Liggett, Ky.; and three brothers, Jerome Norris of Columbus, Otis Norris of Stewart and Corbin Norris of Millfield Route 1.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Mount Liberty Church by the Rev. James Bobo, and Burial will be in Mount Liberty Cemetery. Friends may call at the family home after 1 p.m. Wednesday.
